Concrete Driveways Built to Last 30+ Years

Your driveway takes more punishment than any other concrete on your property. Cars, road salt, freeze-thaw cycles, and the occasional delivery truck all land on the same slab, winter after winter. A driveway that was poured thin, on a weak base, or with the wrong mix will show it within a few seasons.

We build concrete driveways across Vaughan and the GTA that are engineered for real Canadian conditions. Proper excavation, a compacted gravel base, steel reinforcement, and the right air-entrained mix mean your driveway stays level, solid, and good looking for 30+ years.

Built for Canadian Driveways

GTA driveways live a hard life. Winter brings freeze-thaw cycles that pry apart weak concrete, and road salt tracked in from the street attacks the surface. Clay soil, common across much of the GTA, swells and shrinks with moisture, which is why so many older driveways heave and crack at the same spots.

We counter all of that in the build, not after. That means excavating to a proper depth, compacting a deep granular base so the slab has something stable to sit on, and using an air-entrained mix designed to survive freeze-thaw. Control joints are saw-cut in the right pattern so any cracking happens where we plan it, invisibly, instead of across the middle of your driveway.

Our Driveway Process

Every driveway starts with a site visit and a free estimate. We assess drainage, the existing base, and how the driveway meets the sidewalk and garage. On pour day we excavate, compact the gravel base in lifts, set forms to the right grade, and place steel reinforcement. Then we pour, screed, and finish to your chosen texture.

After finishing, the concrete cures before it takes traffic. We saw-cut control joints within the first day, and we will tell you exactly when you can walk on it and when you can drive on it. Most driveways are ready for cars within a week, depending on weather.

Finishes and Options

A classic broom finish is the workhorse choice for driveways: affordable, grippy in wet weather, and easy to maintain. If you want more character, exposed aggregate gives you a decorative stone surface with excellent traction, and stamped concrete can mimic interlocking stone or slate without the shifting and weed problems pavers develop.

Borders are a popular upgrade. A stamped or coloured border around a broom-finished field gives you a custom look for a fraction of the cost of stamping the whole driveway. We can also replace an aging asphalt driveway with concrete, which many homeowners do once they are tired of resealing asphalt every few years.

Maintenance and Longevity

A well-built concrete driveway needs very little from you. We recommend a quality penetrating sealer every few years to lock out moisture and salt. In the first winter, go easy on de-icing salts and use sand for traction instead, while the concrete finishes its initial cure.

Beyond that, keep the joints clear of debris and avoid parking heavy equipment on the edges. Do that, and the 30+ year lifespan we build for is realistic, not optimistic. When neighbours are replacing their driveways twice, yours will still be the one that looks right.

Common questions

How thick should a concrete driveway be?

For residential driveways we pour a slab thick enough to carry cars and light trucks comfortably, over a compacted gravel base. The base matters as much as the slab, so we never pour on undisturbed soil or old fill.

Can you replace my asphalt driveway with concrete?

Yes, and it is one of our most common jobs. We remove the asphalt, rebuild the base properly, and pour concrete. You trade yearly asphalt sealing for a surface that lasts decades.

How long before I can drive on my new driveway?

Foot traffic is usually fine within a day or two. Cars typically wait about a week, depending on temperature and humidity. We give you exact timing on pour day.

Will road salt damage my new concrete driveway?

Salt is hardest on concrete in its first winter. We use an air-entrained mix and recommend sealer, and we suggest sand instead of salt for traction that first season. After that, normal winter salt use is fine.
